Beautiful U Day Kick Off
8:30 – 9:30 a.m.
University ReUse Center
Join us as we kick off Beautiful U Day at the University ReUse Center at Como Avenue and 29th Avenue. University President Robert Bruininks and University Services Vice President Kathleen O'Brien will host the event and recognize the many sustainability efforts underway in the University Services units in the Como area including Reuse, Recycling, Printing Services, Fleet Services, Landcare and University Stores.

The ReUse Program Spring Auction
April 17 & 18, 21 & 22
University ReUse Center
Throughout the year, the ReUse program collects unwanted furniture, materials and equipment from departments across the University. Every spring, the best and most unique stuff ends up as part of the Annual ReUse Center Spring Auction. This year's selection includes wooden vertical files, air compressors, chairs, tables, a Coke machine and more. The sealed-bid auction will start on Beautiful U Day and is open to the public. The Greening of the West Bank

Humphrey Institute East Entrance
Facilities Management Landcare has identified three areas totaling almost 10,000 square feet between the Humphrey Institute and Ferguson Hall that will be converted from hard, non-permeable surface to green, sustainable plantings. On Beautiful U Day, we’ll begin the project with a short program and ceremonial jack-hammering of the concrete in one of the areas.

Beautiful U Day Lunch
11:30 – 1:00
Northrop Plaza & St. Paul Student Center
Join us for the annual Beautiful U Day lunch where you'll enjoy a Zero Waste Lunch, receive your compact florescent light bulb, and learn more about sustainability efforts underway across the University. University Dining Services has done outstanding work creating a waste free lunch: everything served at lunch including the bags and sandwich wrappings will be recyclable or compostable. The UDS Green Team will be there helping diners properly dispose of their waste.

Lunch will also include displays and information of University Services sustainability efforts. We’re working to include displays from Reuse, Recycling, Landcare, UDS and Parking and Transportation Services.

Beautiful Building Awards

Again this year, Classroom Management and Facilities Management will co-sponsor the Beautiful Building and Beautiful Classroom Awards.

Como Area Open House
4:30 - 6:30
Como and 29th Avenue
We'll wrap up Beautiful U Day with an Open House highlighting the work done in the far and distant land of Como and 29th. The University community and neighbors are invited to learn more about Printing Services, Fleet Services, the University ReUse Center, Recycling, Landcare and more.
